A Typical Day at Longview Chapel Preschool

• Arrival – Doors open at 9:15 and we begin our day! Depending on which classroom they are in, our students start the day with manipulatives like play-doh or blocks, morning work, or free play as everyone settles in for the day.
• Circle Time – Students gather in the classroom to work on the Pledge of Allegiance, an opening prayer, songs, calendar, weather, and the letter of the week.
• Center Time – Children may choose from the following centers:  drama, art, reading, writing, sensory, blocks, and math play.
• Snack/Lunch Time – Students have one snack mid-morning and a lunch before they leave for the day. This provides excellent time to work on staying seated for meals, social time with peers, and the opportunity to work on some of those fine motor skills needed to unzip/zip lunches, open snack wrappers, etc.  
• Art/Theme-Related Work Time – We love arts & crafts! Our teachers incorporate our art projects into what the students are learning about that week – seasons, holidays, or fun preschool topics like space or the ocean. These projects give the kids a chance to express themselves while working on imitating a model and going step-by-step.
• Gross Motor Movement – Students go outside to our playground for recess twice a day. This unstructured time gives them the opportunity to build relationships with peers and practice turn-taking, as well as getting those wiggles out! We also offer Music & Movement on Tuesday mornings with Ms. Kim and Gymnastics on Thursday with Miss Michelle.
• Story Time – we love to read at Longview Chapel! Teachers choose books that correspond with what the class is learning about and often use them as inspiration for our art projects!
• Dismissal – We end our day at 1:00 p.m.
