Make a difference locally with our Outreach Opportunities!
Longview Chapel’s Outreach Team seeks to support local charities with donations and volunteers. Our recent projects include providing meals once a month for youth at HALO; various clothing and food collections; packaging diapers for Happy Bottoms; and helping retired clergy with outdoor and indoor tasks. We strive to include all ages in our Outreach activities when appropriate. Our team meets on the second Monday of each month at 1:00 PM at the Chapel to discuss new and upcoming volunteer and donation opportunities. Interested in being a part of our mission? MONTHLY GIVING & VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Nearly every month we host a donation drive or a volunteer event for Chapel friends to get involved with. See our articles in the Chapel’s monthly newsletters to know what our current and upcoming projects are. We aim to include all ages in our volunteer opportunities, and encourage adults and children alike to help us make a difference!
POP TABS COLLECTION
We are always collecting pop tabs, which are then donated to Ronald McDonald House, a charity that supports families who have children receiving cancer treatment. For every tab donated, a child receives one minute of free chemotherapy. Our most recent donation totaled 9,500 tabs!
MONTHLY HALO MEAL
Once a month, the Chapel provides a meal for youth at HALO. Each month’s meal is delivery on the fourth Wednesday and has a different theme with specific items needed. Those interested in donating can sign up to bring items on the whiteboard in Long Hall.
CURRENT PROJECT: Thanksgiving Food Drive
For the month of October, we are collecting Thanksgiving food items to be donated to Lee’s Summit Social Services, who in turn will provide local families in need with items to ensure they have a good meal for Thanksgiving. See the list to the left for all requested items. Donations may be brought to Long Hall and placed in the designated bin. Thank you!
