Dear Friends of Longview Chapel,

Life is precious. Every single one of us only has today to share God’s light. For some, we may not have the whole day. What we say and what we do, or what we don’t say and what we don’t do, may be the very thing that makes a difference in God’s light being experienced and made brighter, or allowing darkness to rule the day.

In our world’s history and in our country’s history, there has been more than one period when people were denied rights, had property taken, and were abused and/or killed. This has not and never will be a part of God’s desires for God’s creation. And yet, we continue to repeat these patterns until at some point enough people join together to proclaim the light of God’s justice, mercy, and kindness.

As we listen to the news, I pray all of us are repeatedly asking the question, “How is Jesus asking me to follow him?” Like Peter, Andrew, James, and John in Matthew 4, we don’t know where Jesus will lead us, but we will never know if we don’t keep taking steps in his direction.

Christ calls all of us to follow his light. He also calls all of us to be the light. How is Christ calling you?
