Dear Friends of Longview Chapel,

It’s amazing how God often connects us with quotes and experiences that fill our hearts and minds and guide us. Yesterday, the message at the Chapel was about the Word becoming flesh, and the Light of God overcoming the darkness always (John 1). We are called to recognize that Light and that Word, and to be people who spread Christ’s presence.

This quote from Brian McLaren, was in an email I received on Monday morning:

“And, especially in the life and teaching of Jesus, we will see a call to a special kind of action in the world—nonviolent action, creative action, Christlike action where leadership looks like service and where the power of love outlasts and overcomes the love of power.”

These words were a strong reminder to me of how essential it is that we are clear on who Christ was and who he was not. What does the Word and the Light guide us to be and to do?

I am praying and would invite you to join me if you are not already, that all of us will more faithfully seek to hear the Word and follow the Light of Christ. And that we will be people who help to make that Word clearer and louder and that Light brighter by who we are and what we do.

What is the Word saying to you? What is the Light showing you?

Seeking With You,

Pastor Donna
