Dear Friends of Longview Chapel,
I am blessed to have many of you share with me some of your spiritual journeys. Sometimes that is in music, or words, or poems, or actions. So many times, your reflections and those of others have inspired me on my journey to grow and see new things.
I thought I’d share a couple of things: the first a reflection written by John Taylor (attends 2nd service with his spouse, Jenna, and three children) and the second, the words of Teresa of Avila, which I shared in the sermon.
A Psalm of Scraps
Lord, I gather scraps and scattered lines,
but You make fragments whole.
Men bind with fear and tradition,
yet You loose the chains and give sight.
New scribes rise without ego,
tools that carry words but not pride.
Still the seed is sown by Your hand,
and the truth burns only with Your fire.
— John Taylor
“Christ has no body but yours, No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.”
— Teresa of Avila
What have we received from others this week that helped us to grow and what have we shared?
