
Dear Friends of Longview Chapel,
I was reminded today of the Star Word I received at the beginning of the year. (If you have not been with us as the year begins, you are given the opportunity to pull a star from a basket, and it has a word for you to pray on and see how it connects to your life in the coming year.) My word this year was “focus.” I smiled when I got it as sometimes when my mind gets to going too quickly, I will say to myself, often out loud – “focus.” Not sure if you experience this or not, but I find that my mind can get so busy focusing on the many different things happening, that I may miss what is most essential and what God is most concerned that I notice and build up.
Philippians 4:8 is a beautiful verse that has more than once helped me to focus on what is important to God: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” NIV
May we all help either other to focus on and multiply those things which are pleasing to God this week.
