Longview Chapel Staff

Pastor Donna Rose-Heim

She was called to serve with Longview Chapel in 2018. Her greatest desire is to help congregations develop their resources and talents to pursue their mission with faithfulness, excellence and joy. In preaching and teaching she uses stories, interactive experiences and humor as she helps people to engage the scriptures with their daily lives.

Donna holds a B.A. in Psychology from Anderson College and a Master of Divinity from Saint Paul School of Theology.  She has additional training in mediation, healthy boundaries, transition management, community development, emergency response and volunteerism.

Her books, Dream Walking and Dream Walking for Kids are both guides to help people of all ages open their hearts and minds to do more with God than any of us at first dared to dream or imagine.

Donna is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and married to Bill Rose-Heim.  They have five grown children and seven grandchildren. Donna has served in congregations and congregational support offices in Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas. She and her husband live in Overland Park, KS and enjoy hiking, dancing, and biking together.

Choir Director — Sandy Playter

Sandy is a retired school counselor whose BA in music education and psychology is from Southwest Baptist University, MS in counseling psychology from Avila University, and Ed.S. in guidance and counseling from UMKC. She has been both an accompanist and music director, sometimes at the same time, for many years. Her mother secured piano lessons for her beginning at age 6 because she couldn’t carry a tune, and her mother thought all little girls should be able to sing.

Sandy enjoys being around people. She has four sons, 10 grandchildren, and has hosted 12 foreign exchange students over the past 10 years, with another coming in August. She accompanies chorus classes in Independence middle schools parttime during the school year.

She loves being an active participant in worship. She moved to Lee’s Summit from Raytown (where she had spent her entire life) 3 years ago during the pandemic to be near her family. She feels God must have been looking ahead to the time Longview Chapel would be needing an accompanist at a time she was looking for a place to serve.  She is grateful for the opportunity.

Accompanist — Christina Cummins

Christina moved to Grain Valley in 2022 with her spouse, Tim, and adorable puppy, Bishop, to be closer to her sister and family after 5 years of being a high school choir and musical theater teacher in the Chicagoland area. She graduated with her Bachelors in Music Education from Millikin University (Decatur, IL) and graduated with her Masters in Music Education from University of Kansas in 2022, with her thesis work focusing on culturally responsive teaching. Christina works for an amazing non-profit organization, HALO, to bring housing, healing, and education services to homeless and at-risk youth in the greater Kansas City area. Christina is excited to be in the music scene again and working with the amazing community at Longview Chapel Christian Church!

Youth Director & Interim Children’s Director — Jessy Allen

Jessy is a local to Kansas City and can always tell you the best places to get coffee. She has served with teens and young adults for the last seven years. She went to Emporia State University to study Elementary Education and Special Education. She then spent time teaching a variety of ages from birth through high school. Jessy is married to her best friend Jeremy, and they have two children together. She also has 5 cats and 1 dog and is planning on getting chickens and one day having a farm.

Jessy felt called into ministry in the 8th grade. This is why she is passionate about working with teens and helping them find God. She loves reading different translations of the Bible and teaching the teens how to better understand and implement it in everyday life.

If Jessy isn’t at the church, you will find her in her garden or kitchen baking something. She will also be drinking coffee and reading or listening to a podcast.
