Pastor Donna Rose-Heim

 

 

 

Pastor Donna Rose-Heim was called to serve with Longview Chapel in 2018. Her greatest desire is to help congregations develop their resources and talents to pursue their mission with faithfulness, excellence and joy. In preaching and teaching she uses stories, interactive experiences and humor as she helps people to engage the scriptures with their daily lives.

 

Donna holds a B.A. in Psychology from Anderson College and a Master of Divinity from Saint Paul School of Theology.  She has additional training in mediation, healthy boundaries, transition management, community development, emergency response and volunteerism. 

 

Her books, Dream Walking and Dream Walking for Kids are both guides to help people of all ages open their hearts and minds to do more with God than any of us at first dared to dream or imagine.

 

Donna is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and married to Bill Rose-Heim.  They have five grown children and six grandchildren. Donna has served in congregations and congregational support offices in Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas. She and her husband live in Overland Park, KS and enjoy hiking, dancing and biking together.

Music Director - Beth Fleer

 

Beth Fleer has been the Music Leader and Choir Director at Longview Chapel since 2001. She received her music teaching degree from Missouri State in Springfield and her Masters degree from Webster University. Beth has directed choirs of all ages and accompanied many church services, concerts and weddings. In her spare time, Beth enjoys activities with the church Singles, traveling, and taking care of her chocolate brown Cocker Spaniel, Poppy. Beth has a son Patrick, who lives in St. Louis. Her family also includes a sister, Barbara, and a twin brother, Bob. 

Administrative Assistant - Mandy Ott

Mandy Ott is the newest addition to our Church, serving as our administrative assistant! She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies. She is newly married to her husband, Jacob, whom she knew from high school. He recently spent four years in the United States Marine Corps and now they are looking to put down roots. In her spare time, Mandy enjoys studying the Bible, as well as being with her family, taking care of the home, traveling, and being involved in her Church through serving opportunities, small groups, and Sunday school classes. Mandy was raised by a single mother, Tammy, and has a twin sister, Missy! Her favorite Bible verse is 1 John 4:16 “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.”

Children's ministry director JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Longview Chapel Christian Church seeks a person of the Christian faith to be our Children’s Ministry Director. This person will work for 10 to 12 hours per week to help provide the following:

  • Teach Sunday School for grade K-5 on Sundays from 9 to 10 a.m. The person will be at the church and prepared to teach by 8:45 a.m. and then join the Family Worship Service until after the Children’s Moment, when children will be guided downstairs for Sunday School. 
  • Provide optional craft and lesson for children grades K through 5 at the 10:30 service if needed.
  • Follow up and support of families
    • Contacting visitors with children by email or phone weekly
    • Staying aware of families who are missing and connecting when families are unexplainably gone for 2 Sundays or more
    • Relaying to pastor and Youth Ministry Director pastoral needs in families, as appropriate
    • As possible, attending school or other events for children, one per child per year at a minimum.
    • Making hospital visits to children as appropriate.
  • Volunteer support and recruitment – specifically supporting the Family Life Chair to set agendas, budgets, etc.
  • Attending Family Life events
  • Assist in curriculum selection
  • Leadership and recruitment for events, including, but not limited to
    • Easter Celebration of some type
    • Vacation Bible School
    • Sunday School Kick Off
    • December Craft Night
    • Others as designed by Family Life Ministry team and the staff person to reach specifically Longview Chapel children and some to reach children in the community.
  • Supervision of volunteers for Sunday School
  • Attend Family Life Ministry meetings the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm in Long Hall.
  • Attend a monthly staff meeting
  • Attend Board meeting quarterly
  • Assist, when asked to help lead worship. This could include giving a Children's Moment, but would not be limited to this. 

The qualified candidate will be:

  • A person with a personal Christian spiritual walk
  • Have some experience with children and volunteers
  • Be creative, fun, enthusiastic, organized and conscientious
  • Have strong references
  • Pass a background check
  • Be able to be flexible with hours and adjust as needed.

 

Compensation would be $1000 per month and 2 weeks paid vacation. Mileage to events of students’ events or to parishioners’ homes will be paid at the IRS rate. Business expenses of $20 per month or $240 per year will be reimbursed with receipts.

The Children's Ministry Director will report to the Senior Pastor.

YOUTH MINISTRY DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

o   Staying aware of families who are missing and connecting when families are unexplainably gone for 2 Sundays or more

o   Relaying to pastor and Children’s Ministry Director pastoral needs in families, as appropriate

o   As possible, attending school or other events for youth, two per youth per year at a minimum.

o   Making hospital visits to children as appropriate.

·         Be present most Sundays between 8:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and attend both worship services.

·         Volunteer support and recruitment, specifically supporting the Youth Ministry Team Chair to set agendas, budgets, etc.

·         Assist in curriculum selection

·         Leadership and recruitment for events, including, but not limited to

o   Youth Lock-In

o   Summer mission trip

o   Monthly events varying in focus on the spiritual, service and recreational needs of our youth

·         Supervision of Sunday School teachers and volunteers for youth

·         Attend Youth Ministry Team meetings

·         Attend a monthly staff meeting

·         Attend Board meeting quarterly

·         Assist, when asked to help lead worship. This could include giving a Children’s Moment, but would not be limited to this.
