Chapels Missions

As members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), led and empowered by Christ's Spirit, we commit ourselves to be a caring, sharing, teaching faith community surrounded in prayer, as we minister to the needs of our local and world communities.

OUR BELIEFS: A guide for Christian living and faith and truly reveals God's purpose in the world which is to free us from sin through Christ. As a Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) we have always stressed openness to Christ and the Gospel and the rebirth of values found in the New Testament accounts of the early church. Each person is free to explore and interpret the Scriptures according to his or her own experience.

GOD is revealed in many ways, mainly through Jesus. Each one comes to know God from his/her own life experiences.

CHRIST is the Son of God… part of God's own divinity… living on earth first as human and now as our Savior, who is with us always.

PUBLIC CONFESSION of belief in Christ and seeking forgiveness of sins and accepting Jesus into our lives.

UNITY of all Christians in the love of Christ. Doctrines and human differences should not be allowed to divide believers from each other.

INCLUSIVE MINISTRY in the life and work of the church. ALL members are    "ministers"… entitled to interpret the Scriptures and perform church functions.

The TWO ORDINANCES of the church:

BAPTISM an act by which a believer enters into the church universal…Baptism is for mature individuals who are old enough to make their own decisions. Baptism is by immersion in water… the accepted New Testament practice. Baptism includes a public confession of faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to discipleship. Baptism is symbolic of Christ's death, burial and resurrection and of faith in life to come.

THE LORD'S SUPPER (Communion)… the heart of our worship. Celebrated in remembrance of Christ and his life on earth… Celebrated in fellowship drawing the congregation closer together… Celebrated in thanksgiving for forgiveness of sins and renewal of life… Celebration of dedication to Christ's way. The Lord's Supper is celebrated each Sunday and on special occasions, administered by lay people. All who follow Christ are welcome to participate.
