Child Safety Policies at the Chapel

Safety of the children is of highest concern. This is a summary of the policy. Questions can be ansered by the Minister of Education and Youth.

Child Safety Practices:

  • Classroom doors are to remain open unless there is a need to close the door and it has been approved by the Family Life Team Leader or Minister of Education. This is so that we can retain transparency in the program.
  • Chapel policy does not allow for one adult to be alone with one unrelated child in a private area.
  • Teachers are asked to not leave class unattended – even if just for a moment.
  • Teachers are asked to be aware of all of the children in classroom and what they are doing at all times.
  • In the event a child is injured or becomes ill we will notify the parents no later than upon discharge unless the issue requires notifying them sooner. IN A TRUE EMERGENCY – WE CALL 911!
  • Because we have several children at the Chapel with food allergies, we ask our teachers to not bring treats or snacks into the classroom. We also ask that they advise parents at dismissal if anything special was given to their child.
  • Youth Group drivers for special events must pass a background check and agree to and follow written Driving Policies.
  • Youth Group Mission Trip Sponsors must pass a background check, agree to and follow written Driving Policies, and be available to sit with youth during the trip if a need arises.
